Conservation Sound is an L.A. based audio production unit specializing in documenting ecosystems and telling ecological stories from around the world.

Carolyn Jensen Chadwick: The president of Conservation Sound, Carolyn is one of the most accomplished producers in the history of National Public Radio. She conceived of and led the network’s partnership with The National Geographic Society and was NPR Executive Producer of the award winning Radio Expeditions series, a highlight of NPR’s Morning Edition for 15 years. Carolyn helped develop NPR’s first program, All Things Considered, and has worked as an independent producer as well. Earlier, she held positions at the White House Council of Economic Advisers, the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars at the Smithsonian Institution, and Der Spiegel magazine. She has produced one-hour specials and feature stories from sound recording expeditions to the Arctic, and to desert, mountain and rainforest settings in Africa, Asia, Europe and throughout the Americas.

Alex Chadwick: One of the creators of Morning Edition, Alex hosted that program as well as All Things Considered for NPR News. Often called ‘the best writer at NPR’, he was chief correspondent for Radio Expeditions, with extensive field experience in varying conditions in Africa and North and South America. His work won the Society of Professional Journalists award for Investigative Reporting for breaking the story of the looting of the electronics mineral coltan in the eastern Congo. He has worked as a writer and feature reporter in network television, and for the online political magazine Slate.com. Now Alex is turning his storytelling skills to Conservation Sound, continuing his work to highlight threats to wildlife and habitats in some the world’s great ecosystems.
